For the past 6 months I’ve been working on expanding my installation work “Floating Garden” for an upcoming exhibition at the Cornell Museum of Art. This show will be based around the idea of flowers and gardens and is titled “Flora”. I’m very excited to have this exhibition at the museum as the Cornell Museum has just had a major renovation and they are giving me a n entire room for this piece. It also gives me a deadline which I think helps me get work done.
I’m hoping to double the number of flower stems in this piece so that I can create a more immersive environment. Another goal is to have a path that visitors can walk through.
Here are some images from my studio from stitching the flowers onto water soluble stabilizer, to them drying, being ironed and then trimmed for presentation!
