I’ve been working for the past 2 years on a project for the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison Wisconsin which will be installed in March 2022.
My process started with a research trip to the Wisconsin State Herbarium where I spent time with prairie plant specimens and took some time to draw. I then came home to Toronto and worked on making embroideries based on these plants. Over the pandemic, I focused on creating hundreds of embroideries that were then scanned at a high resolution and printed onto chiffon at a monumental scale. I then removed the background fabric to create organic edges. These cut out prints were then fused onto a sheer netting.
I’m currently working on creating 60 panels of fabric measuring 55” x 30’ will hang from the ceiling in Paige Court.
