Amanda McCavour & Aidan Urquhart:
Living Rooms Exhibit
January 14th – March 12th | Opening Gala January 19th at 7pm
There is no need for you to leave the house. Stay at your table and listen. Don’t even listen, just wait. Don’t even wait, be completely quiet and alone. The world will offer itself to you to be unmasked; it can’t do otherwise; in raptures it will writhe before you.
—Franz Kafka, The Zürau Aphorisms (1931)
The works included in this exhibition speak directly to the assembly of space as being one of opposites, of dichotomies: public / private, interior / exterior, outside / inside. The result is a meaningful, idiosyncratic, and often humorous play on the spaces we inhabit. Moreover, it draws attention to the everyday, to the spaces we may take for granted, and allows up to see them in a new light
